The Last Few Days..

Did everyone have a wonderful Valentine's day?  

Wherever you are single or happily taken, I think Valentine's day is a fun excuse to eat lots of sugar and just enjoy the day. There is also something just so sweet about seeing a bunch of people walking and driving around town with flowers.

 I think that needs to start happening every day...

The hubs and I celebrated tonight by having a nice night that included strawberry margaritas, spaghetti, Lady & The Tramp and jelly beans. My mouth is starting to hurt from all this sugar.

Grammy Makeup!

Alicia Keys sported a subtle gold over black eye color with a thin winged liner and a dusty rose lip color with a gloss.

Are you guys ready to get up close and personal with a few of those gorgeous ladies from last night's Grammys? As much as I love all of the fun dresses, I am always curious about the makeup and it amazes me that so many of their looks are super easy to replicate. It seemed that thick liner and gorgeous golds, nudes and peaches were the theme this year, and of course you have Adele's gorgeous thick liner and classic red lips.

Oh Taylor, how I love you! She has a gorgeous gold color on the eyes, and Covergirl's Lip Perfection color in Enthrall. Side note: Enthrall is a rich red color, so her makeup artist used her fingers to dab it on Taylor's lips for just a hint of color.

Rihanna sported really defined eyes with a soft pink lip color to show off her new blonde 'do.

I love Jesse J's eyes here. She has a plum eye color with a black liner and some fun fake lashes.

Carrie's makeup is hands down my favorite of the night. Those lashes are insane! Plus the light peach lip is so pretty.

Such a classic beauty. Adele rocked some awesome thick black liner and a gorgeous red lip. Perfection!

First off, those earrings ... love them! Katie sported thick black liner with a fun pink lip that looked great with her blue hair.

Sporting a bit of a tan, Kelly used a pretty gold eye color with thick liner and a soft pink lip that matched her hair.

Talk about less is more! Julianne had a nude lip with some peach cheeks with highlighted lids and a bit of liner and dark lashes.

Sometimes it's nice to see someone with simple makeup that looks wonderful. Malin had lightly lined eyes and a cerise lip color.

Janina (from True Blood) had a juicy red lip color with a pretty black winged liner and brown shadows.

Makeup Inspiration: Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis is a natural beauty, but I love her simple makeup staples that always pull her look together. She keeps the focus on her gorgeous eyes by having full brows and lined eyes and then keeps the rest of her face simple. A little trick that she does, that I love to do myself, is apply eyeshadow over your liner with an angled brush to add more depth and color. You'll notice in these pictures that there are hints of silver or brown on her eyeliner which instantly adds some more va-va-voom to her look.

Half Moon Glitter Nails

Instructions:

1. Paint nails with black nail polish

2. After nail polish is dry, use your gold glitter pen to draw small half circles 

on the bottom of your nails.

3. If your desired effect is the cascading glitter (the look on my thumb) use your clear top coat brush to drag the glitter up your nail before it dries. If you want the half moon shape to stay, make sure you wait until the glitter is dry before you apply your top coat.

Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple

I can't figure out quite exactly how to describe this product, besides amazing. The texture of this is similar to a chapstick, but with a high gloss sheen.  The colors in the collection are gorgeous and almost all of them look great with all complexions. I have about 6 of them right now, and they range from daily use to "I want to feel fancy" colors.

Since Valentine's Day is coming up, I wanted to share this a-mazing red color with you. It's called Candy Apple (one of those sounds so good right now...) and it is a bright, blue-red that can be applied once for a sheer tint of color, or applied a few times to give you a va-va-voom pick me up. 

Normally, I stick with the more orangy-reds because of my light complexion, but this color was awesome and rich, actually looking good.

I applied it a few times to give me the most color, so it's a little stronger in the photo than normal. 

I am so happy with the pigmentation of these colors; there is enough color for it to be considered as a lipstick, but it feels like a chapstick/lipgloss hybrid. You get about 2-3 hours of wear from one application and if you like moisturizing products on your lips, these are a must have.

If you need a good red lip for your Valentine's date, I recommend going and grabbing this color immediately!
