Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple

I can't figure out quite exactly how to describe this product, besides amazing. The texture of this is similar to a chapstick, but with a high gloss sheen.  The colors in the collection are gorgeous and almost all of them look great with all complexions. I have about 6 of them right now, and they range from daily use to "I want to feel fancy" colors.

Isn't the packaging cute?

Since Valentine's Day is coming up, I wanted to share this a-mazing red color with you. It's called Candy Apple (one of those sounds so good right now...) and it is a bright, blue-red that can be applied once for a sheer tint of color, or applied a few times to give you a va-va-voom pick me up.

Normally, I stick with the more orangy-reds because of my light complexion, but this color was awesome and rich, actually looking good.

Here is a photo of me wearing it in December for the hub's work Christmas party

I applied it a few times to give me the most color, so it's a little stronger in the photo than normal.
I am so happy with the pigmentation of these colors; there is enough color for it to be considered as a lipstick, but it feels like a chapstick/lipgloss hybrid. You get about 2-3 hours of wear from one application and if you like moisturizing products on your lips, these are a must have.

If you need a good red lip for your Valentine's date, I recommend going and grabbing this color immediately!

There are 20 colors in the collection, and they are about $7.00 each.

My thoughts on My Week With Marilyn

I finally went and saw My Week With Marilyn tonight and I'm really glad that I did. All my life I have had a fascination with her (like most girls do, I suppose) including a collection of books and pictures, and I was a bit worried that the movie would somehow damage my idea of her. I can't really explain what I mean by that, but there was just something that was keeping me from wanting to see the film at first.

So tonight I had a few friends call me up and ask if I wanted to go see it with them at a cute little art theater. I wanted to see my buddies and have a good night out, so off I went. All in all, I'm really happy that I ended up going to see it. I thought Michelle Williams did an amazing job playing her ... I really wasn't sure that she could pull it off.

I think I was scared that a movie "about Marilyn" would destroy my own version of what I have conjured her to be in my imagination. This movie didn't do that though, and here is why: this movie was from the eyes of a man that was in love with her and consequently had a week fling with her. The way she is portrayed in this movie is how he saw her, not how she really was. It captivated that "is she really like that" feeling that a person gets when they see or watch her. It didn't solve any questions about her or why she was the way she was; but I felt it still gave the audience a tiny bit more depth to her real person rather than the characters that she played. I don't know if there could ever be a movie about her and her life that could be completely accurate, because her life was such a mystery.

So this was actually supposed to just be a post full of lovely Marilyn photos, but I felt the need to say something about the movie also.

Have you guys seen the movie? What did you think?

Here's to you, Marilyn.

Here is an article that I really enjoyed reading. It's about Marilyn's filing cabinets that were finally revealed 40 years after her death and they contained some great insights into her life. The book Marilyn Monroe: Fragments was based off of her personal notes and diary entries that were found inside those cabinets, too. A great read for any Marilyn fan.

My January Birchbox

Oh January, how I love you. Not only has it been my birthday month (more on that later), but I came home from an amazing trip to San Francisco to my monthly Birchbox in my mailbox.
And can I just say, Birchbox this month was awesome!
Every once in a while they will give you some things that you might never use (I haven't been a fan of a few of the perfumes they've sent me so far) but this month was a grand slam. Every single thing in this box I will use till the very last ounce, and all of the products are pretty big "samples" this time too. They even included a full size Stila eyeliner this month, and I'm already in love.
Here are the pictures of my little box of goodies, so enjoy!

Theme: Clarity 2012
The packages this month were gorgeous.

See? The packaging is so darn cute.

Orgins Checks and Balances Face Wash

This package is my favorite. It will look really cute in the bathroom.
Pomegranate Soap. It smells delicious.
Sample of the Juicy Couture fragrance. Time to put this in my purse for daily use!
Is it bad that I already ate this? If you've never had a Larabar, they are amazing.

So happy to have this! And the best part?
It's a full size product! Can we say, score?
A card filled with wonderful suggestions for a "mini detox". They also sent a magnet so you can attach it to your fridge.

Thank you for an amazing box this month, Birchbox!
Hope you guys enjoyed the photos :)
